The wealthiest black Americans have contributed immensely in Hollywood and other businesses in America. They have made an excellent name for themselves and plenty of money. Media mogul Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan are the only African American billionaires.
1) Oprah Winfrey – $3 Billion
Oprah Winfrey is the richest African American. This 61-year-old self-made billionaire is a media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist! She is the chairwoman of Harpo Productions and Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). She also has an annual $55 million contract with Sirius XM’s Oprah Radio Show. Her 2013 earnings was $75 million. She also makes millions from her O Magazine.
Although she had a difficult upbringing, Oprah took the most out of a second chance. Today she has turned her remarkable career into a platform of helping others.
