The African continent has produced many wealthy people; with over 28 known billionaires. According the Forbes list, Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote remains the richest person in Africa and the richest black man in the world.

The wealthiest black Americans have contributed immensely in Hollywood and other businesses in America. They have made an excellent name for themselves and plenty of money. Media mogul Oprah Winfrey and Michael Jordan are the only African American billionaires.

Oprah Winfrey is the richest African American. This 61-year-old self-made billionaire is a media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist! She is the chairwoman of Harpo Productions and Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). She also has an annual $55 million contract with Sirius XM’s Oprah Radio Show. Her 2013 earnings was $75 million. She also makes millions from her O Magazine.

Africa's Richest Man - Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote is Africa's richest man by far, and he's not slowing down. This year alone, his Dangote Cement, Africa's largest cement producer, launched new cement plants in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Zambia and Tanzania. In total, Dangote Cement now produces more than 30 million metric tonnes each year, with a plan to double capacity by 2018. Dangote owns more than 90% of publicly-traded Dangote Cement through a holding company. Other companies in the Dangote Group - which is active in 15 African countries - include publicly-traded salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies.
